Mfon Ekpo

A Maritime lawyer, Development strategist and a Professional negotiator.

An astute professional, she has multiple degrees in Maritime law, Business law and Social sciences, Journalism, Project Management, Neuro linguistic Programming, Conflict Resolution and Negotiation

The founder of the Discovery Centre a training organization with a mandate to help individuals and organizations transition from confusion to clarity by the “Discover. Develop. Deploy” model, Mfon is also an international speaker, trainer, coach; a founding partner and a member of the President’s Advisory Council of the John Maxwell Team.

She is a bestselling author and has coauthored two books with renowned leading experts such as Brian Tracy, Robert Allen and Leigh Steinberg amongst others.

A multiple award winner, Mfon is a two-time recipient of the ‘Golden Quill’ by the National Academy of Bestselling Authors in Hollywood and the Editors Choice Award for her book ‘The OnlyBusiness Book You Will Ever Need’. Mfon is also the recipient of the award “Best in Professional Ethics” from the Nigerian Law School.

She has also won local and international awards for socio –economic and developmental essays and papers written and presented. From the GOI Peace Foundation in Tokyo for her paper on “Paradigm Shift, A Step in the Right Direction” to the award by the Financial Institution Training Centre on her paper “How to Manage Nigeria’s Domestic Public Debt” and that of the Nigerian Tourism Development Board on her essay on “The History of Tourism in Nigeria”.

She is a personal coach to top business CEO’s, industry and thought leaders and currently serves as the Executive Director of The Future Project Africa as well as the Director of Strategy and Director of Peoples, Red Media Africa .

She has worked and trained for the British High Commission, the Supreme Court of Nigeria, National Judicial Institute, and the National Assembly amongst others.

Mfon is known for her down to earth, humorous but in depth way of connecting to the core of leaders and is best known in those circles for her work ‘Beyond the Façade: What Leaders Wish They Could Say’, ‘The Octopus Syndrome’ and ‘Process, that annoying word’.

She is passionate about transforming Africa’s demographic composition into dividends by building the capacity of its youth with the aim of empowering an educated population that can trigger a chain reaction of producing transformational leaders in different sectors that will set up structures necessary for the socio-economic and political development of Nigeria first and Africa in general.

Mfon is a Washington fellow, in the first set of President Obama’s Young African Leaders Initiative, 2014.
